Question by chris m: what diseases are toggenburg dairy goats susceptible to especially in kenya and how to prevent them?
the dairy goats have been getting listless and weak and within a week or two they die they have been treated for anthrax but postmortem reveals no sign of anthrax or anything else what could it be

  1. the main would be mastitis which is caused by bacteria in the milk sack… symptoms of this are fever in the udder area swollen, hard milk sacks, and weakness and even paralysis… prevention for this is usually cleaning the milk bags on the does every day to keep bacteria from building up… or it could be something as simple as gastrointestinal blockage… meaning, your goats could have gotten ahold of something they couldn’t digest and it got backed up in the intestines… i hope this helps
