What animal would poop in my chicken coop while killing chickens?

Question by wonder.bread11: What animal would poop in my chicken coop while killing chickens?
The chickens are gone, with lots of feathers in the coop but no bodies. It didn’t kill all my chickens but I had not shut the door that night. This happened about a year ago and again, the animal pooped up in the roosting area – I thought there might be an animal who’s known to poop where they had been killing? (I can’t imagine a dog removing all the bodies OR pooping in the chicken coop.)

  1. If you have coyotes in your area, they would be my first suspect.

  2. Foxes are real cheeky – sounds like just the thing they would do.

  3. Are you sure it isn’t CHICKEN POOP?
Ooooh, maybe it’s a human. (I don’t know, are you near a college? Sounds like a pretty good prank– breaking into a chicken coop, stealing the chickens, then pooping in the coop…)

  6. Either a fox, dog, cat, weasel, or etc, but it’s hard to know if you can’t describe what the poop looked like or how large it was.

  7. My four chickens were killed just as you describe- feathers everywhere but no carcases. 99% certain it was raccoons. However, found strange green scat in the nesting box that did not resemble the typical coon droppings. Also had berries in it. Unable to find similar picture on the web. If anyone knows please post.
