Qualifying for a farm tax break in Connecticut?

Question by freegrrl2000: Qualifying for a farm tax break in Connecticut?
My husband and I want to buy around 11 acres in Connecticut to raise a few sheep or alpaca for fiber, chickens, vegetables, and possibly bees. Some would be for selling and some would be for self sufficiency purposes. Does anyone know how to qualify for an agriculture property tax rate? The taxes are quite high on the property and we couldn’t afford enogh land to fulfill our dream without some sort of break on the taxes. Thanks in advance!

  1. I would imagine the and would have to be allowed to be zoned as farmland to qualify

best to start with a real estate agent in the area you are interested in that can at least guide you to county/state agencies that are relevant

  2. you need to access the county web site how properties are taxed in your county and the use of the property
