Do any of you have any favorites among organic fertilizers, both for flowers and lawns?

  1. Espoma has a full line of organic fertilizers. For flowers I would recommend their Flower*Tone (if you have mostly annuals) or Plant*Tone (if you have perennials and annuals). Espoma does also make a lawn fertilizer but we sell more Milorganite by far when it comes to organic lawn fertilizers. If your garden center doesn’t carry Milorganite then go for the Espoma lawn fert–it’s hard to go wrong with Espoma.

  2. For the flowers and vegetables, work on building up your soil over time by adding compost and manure. Other additons would depend on what kind of soil you have, what seems to be missing.

For the lawn, why bother? You’ll just have to mow it more often. 🙂

  3. Make a simple home made compost pile.http://www.ciwmb.ca.gov/Organics/HomeCompost/ This is a start. I use it on the lawn and flower beds twice a year; spring and fall. It’s a thought. Have a bountiful year.
