  5. IMO the biggest drawback in using a modified auto alternator is the
bearings. Not really design for use with 8-10 fan. Looking forward to Dan’s
video on the axial flux wind turbines. The most popular versions of those
use front spindles off a car. As I recall reading the axial flux designs
can work while turning more slowly, that should mean less noise

  10. Get the coil to excite with a wind turbine in standard non-hurricane force
winds and I will be impressed. Gearing or smaller blades for increased RPM
speed makes the torque too weak for any load and your voltage is below 7v.
This is why no one uses them unless they have been altered with neod mags.
DC generators and PMAs produce a lower current but the voltage is there to
charge. Many self exciting alternators require 300-500 rpm.

  12. WHEw.. man not everyone is meant to be an instructor.. have no idea what
you were saying much less haveing any idea how the generator works at
all..If you waqnt to learn to teach..do what the best do.. simplify slowly
    and orderly.

  13. The inverter generator has the capability of being variable speed. Having
it running slower will of course make a lower output, with a lower
frequency (but it’s rectified anyway). I’m wondering how is it that,
despite the speed of the engine, the voltage is always of 12 volts? As show
at around 2:30 , there’s only a diod bridge (AC to DC) feeding the 12 DV
outlet, right? I’m trying to make a variable speed generator, constant
    voltage.

  14. Thanks mates, there is no power in a car alternator even modified. Stop the
scams with them. They make terrible wind turbine motors. Do not get
suckered in to them. Great video mate Cheers

  15. Hello Dan.. Would silver plated copper wire work better than regular copper
wire in a generator with magnets? You seem to know alot about this, I think
a video about making a generator from scratch would be appriciated by many,
like: best wire thickness, wire turn count, best materials, magnet
strength, Do’s and don’ts etc. Thanks for all the great vids

  18. I like what you do. You are teaching in the purest sense of teaching. You
have students chomping at the bit, and a great method (short videos) to do
what a true teacher loves to do — teach. From an old retired teacher —
thanks and keep up the good work.

  19. I do not think a generator would be a good option for wind because they
    require 3600 rpms continuous.

  22. If you spin a motor at 10% of its RPM speed, will it generate 10% of the
voltage it’s supposed to run at?

  23. @GREENPOWERSCIENCE Well, I was thinking, if it needs 3600rpms to make the
110v, how about if it would just do an average 360rpms (or more, depending
on the wind) to give me 11v and up?If this is a 1000w generator, why not
windpower it and see what comes out, but my question about the lack of
magnetic field is not sure if this worth trying or not.
