A windmill under construction. This is where the blades bolt on. Nothing to scale against here… suffice it to say it is HUGE.

Question by zeek Y: I want to build a windmill generator to recharge car batteries. Where can I find stator winding equations?
I wanted to learn how to wind the wires in a stator so that I can recharge a set of batteries in parallel. Where can I find the equations to do such a thing. For example, I would need to know the wire gauge, number of wire loops, and magnet strength. Thank you.

  1. You might want to put a normal automotive alternator on it as it is speed regulated. Why reinvent the wheel? We’ve done it for years offshore.

  2. try http://www.Lindsaybks.com. Lots of technical books for the do-it-yourself person, both modern and antique. Order a catalog for a more complete listing of his books.
