  3. Thank you. The recipe can be found on my blog in the description box above. All of the “French bread” recipes I searched for online all had sugar in them. This was was by far, way less sugar than all others I saw. I do appreciate your feedback. =)

  4. The metal you’re using is stainless which doesn’t really hurt the yeast. The only time it hurts is when making sourdough with wild yeast. In your case it’s fine. I’d be interested in the recipe, traditional French bread hardly has sugar, if any. It wouldn’t hurt to drop it out of the recipe completely. It may just take longer for the bread to rise.

  6. I have never heard that before. But you can use a rubber spatula or a wooden spoon if you’d like.

  7. I was told using metal to stir the water and yeast was not good as the yeast was somehow less potent?

  9. I am still learning and just made a simple loaf of french bread this morning, using only yeast, water, flour and salt. I didn’t notice that there is any salt in your recipe. Is this correct? Your bread looks great and I really like the way you demonstrated how the dough should look. I think mine was not as hydrated this morning. I will work on that as well.
