How much land would you recommend for a beehive?

Question by surfer_kid: How much land would you recommend for a beehive?
I have an acre and a house and I’d like to get a beehive just for the sake of a hobby to have around the house. Is that to small of an area to have a hive?

    a football field should do fine.
