Raising bees seems to be a national past time in Slovenia, and part of the fun is painting the hives. The honey is excellent.

Question by sally_dood: How do you keep bees and make your own honey?
I wanted to start doing this in the summer. Where can I get supplies to raise bees to make honey? I’ll need the box the live in and then where do I get the bees??

not sure where you get the supplies, but you get the bees, between the a’s and the c’s

If you are in US, contact A I Root Co. in Medina, OH. They will have everything you need. They also have some books, “How to Keep Bees and Sell Honey” that you should get and read before you start.

Be aware, though, this is a tough job right now with mite infestations and Colony Collapse causing severe problems in the beekeeping community.
