Question by Mrs. Travolta: How can I make a Beehive replica?
I need one of those large beehives that are roundish as a prop for a movie. Is there any cheep way to do this? Is there a certain type of clay or molding stuff I should use? Thank you ahead of time!

  3. Ok, let’s mix it up here –
Starting with a basketball and a tomato cage….
Use the basketball as the base (for the roundness), shape the cage to get the basic shape you want. Paper mache over the cage and let it dry.
Paint the bee skep a base yellow-mustard-ish color.
Use rough rope and hot glue (low temp) onto the bee skep from the top down (creates texture!).
Then, you can dry brush the mustard-ish paint, white paint, ochre and/or sienna on the rope to add dimension and realism.

Just a conglomeration of the other two ideas – no reason not to use both great ideas in one!!!

    Good luck!
