Now, what of you connected one end of the pipe to one of the jets inside the pool so you would have to use an the electrical pump? Would that cause the pool pump to work harder?

This small setup doesn’t do a whole lot for a larger pool, however, It did seem to offset the energy lost at night.

not much, its a low wattage pond, fountain pump. I will hook up a meter and find out soon, just about to open the pool.

cool idea. im thinking if you spaced the rings out a bit more, you would create more surface area in contact with the sun, should increase energy absorption by at least 25% to 33% from what you see already.

I am looking to heat a 17ft round pool holding about 8,500 gallons of water.
With the size of your solar system, what size pool is it heating?

It is similar to Sil-O-Flex polyethylene water pipe, I had a roll that came from the county water department.

This was a quick setup, using cheap easy to get parts. Something almost anybody could do. Would work best on small pools.

Id prefer a cold pool to that great ugly monstrosity sitting beside me. Mount it on an angle on a piece of roof tin, then vacuum seal it under glass.. THEN you will see some results!!

If i used the eyelets I would have to start the pump on a timer, which means that I would have to re plumb the system. So, not this year…

solar pump would be a great plus, I don’t have one, but this pump is low wattage and could be run on a small inverter.

You may want to use a solar powered pump or attach to the jet streams of your pool. That will save you even more on electricity and really make your heater solar.
