  1. Have you thought about feeding them to the fish? I imagine between the
filter and whatever compost is generated you should be able to grow quite a
    bit!

  3. You two are just regular wormwisperes arent you?? 🙂 “like” and “love”..
Anyway, if they survive and multiplicate I would think the environment is
    okay for them.

  5. Oligochaeta (the worm family) can survive anywhere there’s oxygen. This
means on land, in dirt, inside another animal or in oxygen rich water. Ever
gone fishing and had the line in there all day, without a bite, reeled it
in and wondered why the worm is still alive? Although earthworms prefer
dirt it is because they instinctively avoid sunlight, and will go anywhere
they can find which is dark, has oxygen and is rich in nutrients.

  7. Wrong, worms do just fine as long as they aren’t constantly covered in
water. The flood and drain systems have provided very fertile grounds for
worm breeding in every system I’ve ever seen.

  8. I like it, you have alot in there. I have a small 12″ diameter plastic
colander suspended in my main tank. Its filled with gravel and I run an
airlift style pipe from the bottom of the tank into it. I put a handfull of
red composting worms in there two weeks ago and now the tilapia spend all
their time bunched around the colander 🙂 the worms must make the
occasional mistake and poke out on the ‘wrong’ side of the colander 🙂

  9. These worms love it in this set-up. They are multiplying very rapidly. A
continues supply of food is pumped to them 24/7. I will be building a much
bigger set-up in the near future.

  10. They do … I have them inside a bio type filter.. its basically just a
filter, layer, then rocks.. The water is pumped over this filter and back
to my tank. The worms eat the fish poop.. I started with a small hand full,
now there are hundreds of them living in this filter..

  12. Excellent, why not use it as your grow bed and set it up so that excess
worms can be fed back to the fish? I should give it a try!

  14. PresseDeLHermite, it is pretty amazing! The pink stuff is filter media and
yes the worms eat from the water/fish waste only. There are no plants
    currently growing in this system.

  15. see how they are hiding under rocks and stuff. because it is relativity dry
there. you need to have a wet part and a dry part change bed inlet time to
    time.

growing vegetables also with this system?

  18. This is amazing. What is the big pink thing ? Is it autonomus as in “do the
warm are feed simply by the water and fish emulsions ? Where are the plants
    ?

  19. This is fascinating to me. Are you using the worm bin INSTEAD of plants? Or
do you use it in addition to a plant grow bed? And do you ever find the
worms deeper in the water or do they mainly live on the surface under the
rocks where they don’t have to be totally submerged?

  20. I once threw a single worm into a tank full of goldfish, non of then ate it
but several months later i cleaned out the tank and there were hundreds of
tiny worms living underneath the gravel, that’s when i discovered they
    could live under water.

  21. There is so much ignorance here, I don’t even know where to begin. Nature
also gave us intelligence, but by the looks of it, it skipped a few people.
Let me explain, by using our intelligence people have discovered a way to
most efficiently grow and harvest two things at once. This is called
evolution. If you want to be stuck in conservative ways, then do it. Don’t
do it while casting negativity with what seems to the raping of the English
language at people before doing a little bit of research

  23. ye guess what a_hole, WORMS live in dirt-they probably “luv” it in ur set
up because theres no escape and they dont have choice. . Can we maybe try
to STOP recreating nature (aqua_retardics) and grow the way we’re supposed
to???? YOU now, in the earth nature made. Asswipes. Quit being lazy and
reinventing the wheel. Get out there, get ur knuckles dirty (IN THE DIRT),
once they are you can rinse em off in WATER
