  1. I think it should be fine. Sometimes it helps to add support to the corn too.

  2. I have a question I dont think my corn is deep enough would it be ok to add more dirt to the bottom? or will it hurt the corn?

  3. I hope everybody knows you need at a minimum of 6 by 6 rows for proper pollination. Pollination will give you your full ears of corn.

  10. Donna, Bailey’s produce in Pensacola now has “field” peas in the shell or shelled. It is on Davis Hwy north of Fairfield Dr. on your left. You can purchase large or small amounts.

  11. I just finished watching all your videos – you are so inspiring!!! Thank you for all the hard work of filming and putting them up for us. Can you show some of how you dry your herbs and freeze your peppers sometime? Thanks so much.

  12. Donna! Great videos. I live in central florida and I just planted a few vegetables in my back yard this spring. I’m really getting interested in raised beds and SFG. I ordered my book should be here tomorrow. I also am thinking organic but not sure to jump right into it or not. I made a compost barrel out of an recycled food grade plastic barrel I got for free. It’s been making some great compost for my garden. I also made an “Earth” barrel from one. Thanks for posting all these great videos!

  14. My Grandfather taught me to put a drop of mineral oil down in the center of the corn stalk about once a week until corn starts forming. This doesn’t harm the plants but smothers the worms & eggs/larva. I think you helped me figure out what kind of corn I grew last year! It was the first I had ever grown that grew w/the beautiful color of your ‘country gentleman.’ Thanks for your posts! My corn is visible in my garden video #3 from last year. 15. I love baby corn. So checking on a really little one isn’t all bad. Son likes to eat them when they’re little without cooking. It does taste good. Now I’m regretting my decision to not grow corn this year. Your garden looks great!

  16. I am growing this same corn, got it from Baker Creek Seeds. It is huge and just now starting to tassel. I had to support the whole box, because some of the corn stalks decided to fall over in a big wind. Your garden looks great this year. Hope you had luck getting rid of that nasty week from the other day. Noreen.

  19. isn’t it great when gardens bring back warm memories? 🙂 That’s a neat looking corn— mine are only 10cm (5″) tall right now, hahaha… As I’ve said before, I’m so jealous of your warm climate!

  20. Garden? Donna you got a jungle back there. Sure looks lush. How’s it going with the hens? I wanna do that so I’ll pay close attention. I’ve got more yard room but my neighbors are uppity. So I don’t dare until it becomes obvious that we may all need to do more of our own stuff. I wonder how much corn you would have to grow to feed a few hens?
