Question by willow: does anybody know about worm breeding?
my dad started breeding worms a while ago, he has a few large worm beds, which he puts horse poo on and keeps covered with black sheeting, and he also has a few small beds in which he does the same. They breed well but they don’t seem to grow very big, and now he wants to give it up as they’re not growing and it’s very time consuming.
Is there anything he should be doing to make them grow better.

They are probably brandling worms…excellent for composting and fishing but are small. The big worms are usually found in deep soil, they are slow and not good for fishing.They die in compost heaps.
Thumb down??? I’ve been using brandling worms for years for fishing..I know what I’m talking about.

i know if you pull a worm apart and stick either end in with the rest the whole worm tribe will die.

where did he get his stock of worms from? If he has a small species of worm they will never grow very big. He may need to get better stock if he needs bigger worms.
