Question by Sherrie: Dilemma! I think I have bed bugs, or ring worms, help!!!??
Okay, my mom’s cat has fleas, she’s too lazy to give her a bath, and they’ve been putting her in the garage. I made the mistake of letting her sleep with me a couple times. Now, I have fleas in my rug, my sheets and stuff. So, I’m washing them as we speak. But, I’m afraid that they’ll still be there. Also, I noticed that when I took the sheets off my bed, there were these little worms(black, less than 2cm in length, pretty tiny)
that curled up in balls when harmed. So…this is disgusting and I refuse to sleep in my bed until they’re gone. What can I do about it?

Some kind of spray, powder, bomb? HELP!!?

THANKS, HELP APPRECIATED. :O

  1. The best thing I know to do is, wash everything with ammonia, all the time, not just this time, fix a bucket of water & ammonia, with a rag, wash surfis with ammonia cloth. that shold help get rid of them. You may need to buy a new bed. Just don’t was your cat with ammonia it could be deadly. If the smell gets in your lungs it could also harm you. But it won’t harm you if you was things with it, it does have a very clean smell, too.

  2. I’ve been there except for the fact that my kitten died and then several days later the fleas came. They bit up my whole body. It was a nightmare. First I went to a pet store and got some flea powder (can’t remember the name) and spread it on my carpet. You’re supposed to leave it for a certain amount of time. Then vacuum it up. But eventually since I lived in an apartment I had to ask my super to put out a bomb. That finally worked. I had to throw out my bedding and mattress also. What an ordeal…plus I lost my poor adorable kitty “Gracin”. I sure had a broken heart.

  4. First vacuum the heck out of your mattress and carpet (if in your bedroom, and wash your bedding it HOT water with a little bleach. Most carpet cleaning companies offer mattress cleaning guaranteed to kill any critters living in your mattress, and will probably give you a deal if they do the carpet too. Good Luck!

  5. I don’t know about the worms, but for the fleas go to a vet and get a can or two of Knock-Out. It’s kinda pricey, but it works like a charm. Spray it everywhere, on your furniture, mattresses, etc., and also under everything, including cushions, beds, furniture, etc. Also, start putting a little bit of garlic powder in the cat’s food everyday. The garlic will kill the fleas. It might take a few days, but it will work. It also wouldn’t hurt if you eat a little bit of garlic everyday, too.

Garlic: not just for keeping vampires away anymore…lol!

  6. First off, my condolences! That sucks!
What’s troubling is that ringworm is MICROSCOPIC parasites, so I dont believe you would see them on your mattress, and if the cat had ringworm there would be likely be a visible “circle’ like formation somewhere on its body. (although some cats can carry it without any visible outward sign!) You may want to check your own body for a small circle like formation
    Signs and symptoms

The signs and symptoms of ringworm include:

A circle of rash on your skin that’s red and inflamed around the edge and healthy looking in the middle
Slightly raised expanding rings of red, scaly skin on your trunk or face
A round, flat patch of itchy skin
More than one patch of ringworm may appear on your skin, and patches or red rings of rash may overlap. You can have tinea infection without having the common red ring of ringworm.

Bed bugs dont look worm-like, they’re roundish for lack of better description.

A full ZIPPERED mattress or/and boxspring cover is the best invention, plus laundering in HOT water every week! Vacuuming your mattress weekly helps to control pests. Sounds like a “lot” of work, BUT it means a good nights sleep!
