Question by Dexter Morgan: can i plant the same vegetable plant for each square in a square foot garden?
I want to create a square foot garden of 4×4 but i only really want to grow all green beans because i eat tons of them, is it possible to plant all 16 square with green beans?

  1. The problem with that would be the ones in th middle. Your best option is to plant the beans on a “U” shaped lattice with the bottom of the U facing south. I love green beans and the main thing they need is sun. The north side will just languish and gather insects and disease. Other wise, mulch the base of the plants with good compost and pick the beans every other day to promote continuous production.

  2. Of course you can plant the whole thing with green beans. Why do you think otherwise?

    You can plant whatever you want. Be aware that most green beans will require some kind of support to grow on.

  3. Of course you can grow the same vegetable plants in every square.

    You can grow dwarf beans or bush beans that, do not require much support.

    If you wish to harvest full size of beans, sufficient growing space
    should be given to every plant.
