Building the “Homesteading Prepper’s” LIbrary: Kitchen helps: Cookbooks for Food Storage

This is a two-part video profiling books for the homesteading prepper’s kitchen. This first part shows my three favorite cookbooks to use with my “extended pantry”. Not surprisingly, (if you are familiar with the LDS church), all three are written by Mormons. When it comes to putting together and using a food storage, the Mormons are the experts. Thankfully, they are willing to share their expertise with the rest of us playing catch up. Books profiled in this video: “Cooking With Food Storage Made Easy” by Debbie Harmon, “I Can’t Believe It’s Food Storage” by Crystal Godfrey, and “Cookin’ With Home Storage” by Vicki Tate.

  9. Thanks for the comment. I have “Pantry Cooking” too. The reason why I didn’t include it is because so many of the recipes are simplistic (oatmeal, plain rice, etc.) and it uses a LOT of canned meat in the recipes which isn’t a big deal for those that can their own, but would be very expensive otherwise. It isn’t a bad little book though. I just had to make choices. As it was, I had to make part one and two. LOL.

  10. Great Vid! I have another book that is pretty good and I’ve found it pretty cheap. It’s called “Pantry Cooking” by Laura Robins. It’s only about 150 pgs long, has a 5 week sample menu, talks about cooking without power, converting fresh ingedients to stored ingredients, how to build up your stored food, bug out bags, where to store it all, sprouting and more. It’s not the best book I’ve read but for its cost and size its pretty good. Just a thought.

  15. Thanks for sharing. I have a few cookbooks, but have been making my own. If I use a recipe or read a tip that I think is helpful I put it in my book. Thanks!
