  1. The Makossa is very popular right now. Type Makossa ainto Youtube.com and you can see whats current. Thats whats HOT right now in Africa. The arm swinging “monkey” style dancing is more tribal but Makossa might be what you are looking for. I am black married to an African woman so I get to see alot of things. It seems that some dancing is going to more subdued but alot of hip gyration. Something like Jamaican “wine-ing”

As for Urban dances the “Poole Palace” or the “Snap dance” from Atlanta is still hot. The “Hotsause” which is a variation of the Poole Palace without snapping is gaining popularity. The Chicken Head from St’ Louis is still hot but not like when it was first new. There of course is “Crumping/Clowining” from California and “Jooking” from Memphis. In Chicago you’ve got “Stepping” and in Detroit you’ve got “Jitting”. Miami you have the booty-skake/Luke dances and in New York you have the Chicken Noodle Soup 1920’s style dance. Thats whats current as much as I know.

  2. I myself am originally from a Makossa country (DRC), I would have loved to give you a website but I dont have one, all in know is I can dance makossa like DAMN! I can watch and listen here and there makossa music though (but not the list of their names coz most of them have funny names). Anyway, I hope you find one good site with the list.
