Solar Power Quick Tutorial?

Question by mfordfm1: Solar Power Quick Tutorial?
I have a customer who unique power switching has been design by our group and they have now requested if we can take the core and replicate it to a mobile solar powered station. Can anybody recommend a quick solar tutorial to help bring myself and team up to speed quickly? thanks! mark.ford@mdgtech.com

  1. I am not sure how large a system you are considering. Solar power is not as simple as it might seem at first. You might want to consider working with a major system integrator such as Conergy. I have never worked with them but they are one of the major balance of system suppliers. If your application requires AC power you could work with one of the major inverter makers such as Xantrex or SMA. I am not that familiar with DC systems so I cannot help you there.

    If you really want to do it your self you might want to look into Home Power magazine. Their on-line site gives you access to all of their back issues and they are very technically competent, although they are focused on smaller system.

    You might also want to look into the American Solar Energy Society.
