Question by pattil: Agriculture overtime laws?
I work at a large property as a maintenance/landscape employee of a company that owns several properties, some of them equine/thoroughbred farms. I don’t work at one of those. They recently changed my 40 hour week to 48 hours to qualify for insurance, but they said they will not pay overtime as they are covered under the agriculture pay laws. On the property that I work at there are no animals, no farming, no crops, nothing but land and outbuildings that me and 2 other men maintain. Does anyone know if they are allowed to with hold overtime?
As I mentioned, there are no animals, farming, cultivation, growing of any kind of crops on the property I work at. I only mow the property and hedge the bushes and upkeep/landscaping. There is no farm activity on this property at all.
