Question by kateosunshine: Will feeding my pup chicken and rice give her loose stools?
My puppy hasn’t been eating much of the food we feed her so I thought I’d give her chicken and rice, but will the change of her food give her loose stools?

Thanks

  1. You may want to start off by mixing some of the chicken & rice with her regular food and it should not bother her digestive system.

  2. No. It will actually do the opposite.

Take her to the vet if she isn’t feeling well.

  3. Cooked chicken and over cooked mushy rice is fed to dogs with diarrhea to firm up the stools.

  4. No it shouldnt give her loose stool, we were encouraged to feed our dog chicken and rice after she had been sick. But every dog is different and especially as she is a puppy she may have a sensitive stomach. I suggest you mix in a littel chicken and rice with her normal food and see how she goes

  5. It may, it may not. Kind of depends on the dog. A bigger concern is whether you plan on feeding her chicken and rice for more than a week. If you do, you’ll malnourish her. If she’s sick then a bland diet is fine for a week or so, but otherwise change her food. If she’s sick fasting her for 24 hours may very well solve the problem. If she doesn’t like her current kibble try feeding her a different one.

  6. Give your puppy proper puppy dog food. She’ll eat when she’s hungry don’t worry.

I wouldn’t feed our dogs chicken and rice as the main meals. Maybe a bit of chicken mixed with the dog food, or as a snack.

If you’ve been feeding her dry dog food you might want to try and soak it a bit before giving it to her. Use a cup of hot water, and place it out of her reach to cool down. That way she’ll be smelling it before she can get to it.. increase her appetite..

Again, don’t worry. She’ll eat when she’s hungry.

  7. start it off with rice with some fresh chicken stock added to the water, then work up from there to cooked pieces of chicken, then start mixing in the biscuits.
