    They might not be interested in a positive relationship.
    They might just be extremely unintelligent.
    They might be sadistic.
    It all depends on the person and the situation; that’s for YOU to conclude. Use your brain. 🙂

  3. They’ve bee hurt before, and don’t want to raise their expectations just to be hurt or disappointed.

    Solution: try to trust and love.

  4. I can tell you the most likely reason for this is due to (Very) Low Self Esteem.

    There are a few others of course, but that is the most likely one.
