  2. Cows, goats, sheep, pigs, hens, ducks….I had all of those growing up. A lot of them can bringing a lot of food and money. Though never kept them as pets. We had them for growing and getting meat and dairy even had an ox before we got a tractor for tilling the garden.

  3. No they’re not only good as pets. I think it has something to do with diversification and ensuring a steady stream of income.

  4. Most animals have some use. Cows can be good for milk as well as meat. Goats are also used for milk and meat, but some breeds are used for wool. Sheep can be meat, but are usually kept for their wool. Donkey can do some work. Many of the animals are bred, so the offspring can be sold.
Some people just like some manias and like to have them around. they might not be ‘useful’ or used for what they could be, but are just kept as pets.
Some animals are used for showing and breeding. Donkeys might be shown, could pull a cart and be bred.
