What can I do with my goat?

Question by rdapmz_584: What can I do with my goat?
I raised a goat for FFA and I decided not to sell him but now I have no where to keep him. I do not have land to keep him and I do not wish to give hime away. I was wondering if any one might know of a local barn or stable in the katy (tx) area that can be rented out or even a boarding facility. I am only able to find stables for horses…..please help.

and please only serious answers because this is a timely and important matter.

  3. Try finding a local farmer that you can pay like a rent to other than that your only option is to kill the poor little goat

  5. Talk to the horse farms. They might laugh at you, but they also might rent you out a stall. If not look for goat farms- like dairy goats. Maybe you could, assuming that your goat isn’t an un castrated male, pay to have your goat kept at their place with their goats, or in a separate pen.

  7. Goats are often a great companion for horses – A people friendly goat is an asset to many barns as the goat will train the horse to come when called and not fear humans.. I have a goat that “helped” a lot with PMU foals and new boarders. She just turned 10!
Post an ad in tack shops and feed stores to “free lease” your goat, it might just work!
Another option is to look for a petting zoo or hobby farm, again you call it a free lease or offer to pay for his upkeep and retain ownership.
    Good luck!!

  8. A couple years ago I looked into boarding the pair of goats I had at the time at a horse barn for a month when my dad had to go in for bypass surgery. Every place I looked into wanted what they would have charged for a horse… which is ridiculous, considering it was ‘pasture board’. I could totally understand if they took up a stall because that would be one less stall that they could fill. I don’t think you’ll have much luck finding something reasonable unless it’s a private facility which you can go to every day and help out.
