  1. One method is by introducing gonadotrophic hormones (FSH and LH) which play a vital role in maturation of the gonads and spwaning in fishes. This pituitary extract can be obtained from mammals or from other fishes. Brazilians were the first to use this induced breeding technique.

    The other method is using synthetic hormones. Chorionic gonadotropins(CG) gave good results. This hormone behaves like LH. HCG (Human CG) is another preparation which resulted good spwaning in fishes. A mixture of CG and mammalian pituitary extract known as ‘Synahorin’ also proved good result.
