Question by ♥: Sisters and Brothers: Are there any inspiring reminders/verses you can share from something you have read?
Assalaam Alaikum Warahamutullah Wabarakatahu

I hope you are all well Insha’Allah.

Can you share any? These are from the book I am current reading.

* Be like the bee, which lands on the fragrant flowers and the fresh flowers.

*You do not have time to seek out peoples defects and mistakes.

*If Allah (swt) is with you then whom do you have to fear? If Allah (swt) is against you, then what hope do you have?

*Do acts of kindness and you will the happiest of people.

*Be optimistic, for Allah (swt) is with you, and the Angles are praying for your forgiveness for you, and Insha’Allah Paradise awaits you.

*The key to Glory is: Obedience to Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saw).
These are from: You can be the happiest woman in the world (a treasure chest of reminders).

  3. On one occasion Imaam ash-Shaafi`ee said concerning the Shias, “I have not seen among the heretics a people more famous for falsehood than the Raafidite Shias.”
    Ibn Taymeeyah, Minhaaj as-Sunnah an-Nabawiyyah, 1/39

On another occasion he said, “Narrate knowledge from everyone you meet except the Raafidite Shias, because they invent Hadeeths and adopt them as part of their religion.” [Ibid, p. 38]

It was reported that often Abu Haneefah used to repeat the following statement about the Shias, “Whoever doubts whether they are disbelievers has himself committed disbelief.”

Once Imaam Maalik was asked about them and he replied, “Do not speak to them nor narrate from them, for surely they are liars.”
    Minhaaj as-Sunnah, 1/37

  4. waalaykum salaam…

    where are these from ?

18:54. And indeed We have put forth every kind of example in this Qur’an, for mankind. But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything.

I think the Qur’aan is sufficient as a guide.

2:2. This is the Book (the Qur’an), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun

The problem with going to other sources is they can introduce concepts that are alien to islamic teachings or lead to an incorrect way of thinking…

    eg,

“Do acts of kindness and you will the happiest of people.”

Not neccessarily… with in this world or the next… certain conditions need to be met… ie, submission to Allaah and doing deeds for his pleasure, and according to the way he loves and has revealed, ie, the sunnah of the prophet….

If someone were to take that statement and act on it, they can be misled…

and in fact, many kuffar atheists use arguments like this…” why should God punish me if I am a kind person ? “… and ” I don’t need to believe in a particular religion to be a kind person and do good deeds… surely God will accept me because I am kind and i will have a good hereafter and life… and i will be happy”

    another example :

“You do not have time to seek out peoples defects and mistakes.”

In islam, our scholars do seek mistakes and in fact, there is a huge science to this in the science of ahadeeth wher narrators are classified and their lives are studied to determine how trustworthy they are etc … and whether their ahadeeth are reliable or not… also, our scholars do, from time to time, caution others against others, eg, innovators, and this is needed to clarify the truth and keep evil away from the ummah….. Also, others mistakes have to be made known so others do not fall into them….

The least that can be said is, the safest position to take is to take guidance from the Qur’aan and sunnah as understood by the first generations.

Yet today, we turn from the Qur’aan and sunnah, know hardly how to recite it properly, don’t know arabic, have not memorized much of it, yet we spend our time with other than the speech of Allaah…. and we ask, why is victory not coming ?

A scholar in the past I believe mentioned that nothing will rectify this ummah in the future except that which rectified them in the past…. and from this is going back to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of his prophet

another great scholar said the companions only drank from the Qur’aan (and the sunnah is an explanation to Qur’aan so it goes with Qur’aan), not because they didn’t have any other literature or civilsation to learn from, but to be pure in their knowledge….

another scholar extracted a possible wisdom behind the Prophet being unlettered… that is, he did not need to read or write because his knowledge was going to be pure from God directly… yes, we need to read and learn as reading is our way of acquiring knowledge…. but with caution on what we read …

another scholar said that you should be careful who you take your deen from… ie, your way of life….

For those interested, there is a lot of benefit to be gained from reading the Qur’aan, its tafseer, sahih al-bukhari and muslim, the authenticated seerah of the prophet, the history of islam, fiqh, the books of aqeedah, learning arabic, perfecting tajweed, etc….

  6. i have quite a few (=

“It may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows, but you do not know”
    (Quraan 2:216)

“So verily, with every hardship, there is relief”
    (Quraan 94:8) 🙂

“Then which of the blessings of you Lord will you deny?”
    (Ar-Rahman 55:13) —> this is my favourite surah 🙂

“If Allah wishes good for someone, He gives him an understanding of the Religion” ~ Prophet Muhammed (saw)

“Truly, patience is to faith as the head is to the body. If the head is severed, the body becomes wasted” ~ Ali (ra)

“when someone beats a rug, the blows are not against the rug, but against the dust in it” ~ Rumi

the following 2 are from “Don’t Be Sad”, by Aaidh ibn Abdullah al-Qarni:

“The truth of the matter is that you can not remove from yourself all remnants of grief. But you should, as much as possible, reduce the amount and intensity of your grief. As for being completely free from grief, this is for the inhabitants of paradise in the hereafter”

“Those who mourn over bankruptcy and destruction of house or car, and do not grieve over a low-level of faith and over their sins will soon come to realise the absurdity of their outlook on life”

  7. Dr. Aidh Al-Qarni is an excellent writer, Masha Allah! Have you read his other book, entitled ‘Don’t Be Sad’? If you haven’t, then you should. It’s one his best books, along with the book you’re reading.

I have a few sayings from a book I just finished reading last week, ‘Enjoy Your Life’ by Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rahman Al-Arifi. Here are some that I liked:

    – When you climb a mountain, look to the top and not to the rocks that surround you. Make sure of where you step as you climb, and do not leap in case you loose your footing.

    – Do not earn wealth and lose people, for earning people is a way of earning wealth (Masha Allah, one of my favorites).

    – Perhaps just smiling at a poor man would raise you in rank in the sight of Allah.

    – Everyone has a key to their hearts, knowing their personality assists in identifying the right key to open it.

This one is similar to your first one:

    – Be like a bee that seeks out the scent and ignores the filth. Do not be like the fly that seeks out the bloody wounds.

    – You can always eat honey without demolishing the beehive.

    – It is enough of a sin for a person to speak whatever he hears.

    – Be content with what Allah has apportioned for you.

    – We can disagree and still be brothers! The objective is not that we should agree. Rather, the objective is not to conflict.

    – Restrain yourself from harming others. Life is too short to gain enemies.

    – Animals have long tongues, yet they cannot speak. Man has a relatively short tongue, yet he cannot keep silent.
