Question by mugentuner: Natural way to repel wild chickens?
Without using fencing e.t.c. I’ve heard that Vinegar or Chili powder could be used around plants to stop chickens from diggging up soil and throwing mulch all around, but don’t know if these are urban legends. What are your thoughts / advice? They tear up any little gardens i’ve seen that they get into

  10. Chicken wire can be trussed up to keep them out but you need to ensure it doesn’t rip up which means maintaining it regularly in some areas. You might use gravel for a mulch or black plastic and see if that works. Personally, I like the frying pan approach.

Are these really wild chickens or are they someone’s free roaming birds? If they belong to someone then call animal control and have them collect the birds. You might do this even if they’re truly wild if they aren’t native to your area. Chickens are native only in Southeast Asia.
