Question by Shark Es: My chickens had a baby chick?!?
Well my chickens had a baby chick but they keep pecking the little baby chick!! Is that ok or should I take him out because I have a different cage I can put him in the house. Also what type of food can he eat?

  2. First off the mother and the chick should be separated from the flock =together (this way the mother will keep it warm) until the chick can run away which is about the time that it is almost full grown – the flock will kill it otherwise.

go to your local library and borrow books on how to raise chicken- they are free. Get chick starter food from your feed store. Go online there are dozens more sites with basic info – just type in = how to raise chickens.

  3. Yes, separate it. It needs a heat lamp though. Get a heat lamp at tractor supply or whatever farm store you have around. The chic will definitely need it. Get it some chick starter feed and some water. You definitely don’t want it out with the flock. It will be killed.
