Question by ANDREW: Is it safe for kittens to drink goat milk?
Hi,just a week(or longer) ago there was this cat that lives in my neighbor that doesn’t have a home and gave birth to 3 kittens. The mother cat ended up abandoning(which I don’t know why) the kittens so I took them in to live with me.I gave them all a warm place to sleep and fed them store bought cat milk and used kitten bottles.I had them go to the vet for a check up.The vet said not to feed the kittens with cat milk anymore and told me to start using goat milk instead. So I went to the store and bought goat milk.I fed all the kittens the goats milk. One of the kittens(the runt)ended up dying a few hours after I gave it milk.I just want to know if the goats milk is safe or not.And I’ve also heard that giving kittens goat milk will make them lactose intolerant. Can someone please help!

  1. Yes you can use goat milk but use raw goats milk!

  2. Goat milk is safe for cats completely. Cow milk is completely safe as long as it is not pasterized (sp) where goat milk is fine pasterized (sp) or unpasterized (sp). It happens a lot that runts die also so dont feel bad or feel like you’re the reason why it died.

  3. LOL that the milk will “make them” lactose intolerant. Cats ARE lactose intolerant. Are kittens baby goats? Clearly not so why would you think goat milk should be fed to kittens? They need substitute CAT milk which you can buy at any pet store. Far better, though, would be to call a local no-kill shelter and rush these kittens over to them so someone experienced with fostering kittens can take care of them. Don’t and they’ll most likely ALL die.

Are you sure the mother abandoned them and didn’t just go off to hunt?
