  5. “Mevushal” is wine that has been cooked. It is forbidden to drink wine that
was offered to an idol. it was believed that if the wine is cooked then the
pagan priests would not have offered it to their idols. I am not Rabbi
Meza. I am sure he could give you a more detailed answer.

  11. BS”d Mevushal means the wine has been cooked or boiled to make it different
then the wines used by pagans in thier libations. We can not use mevushal
wine in qidush because we can only make qidush on wine that would be used
in the temple and they didn’t boil their wine in the temple. (Mishneh Torah
Hilkhoth Shabboth 29:14) Most kosher wines taste like all others, Merlot,
cabernet sauvignon etc. You probably just has a sweet wine.

  12. I dont see what your points have to do with my year old statement. Care to
clarify? You should ask asher meza what he believes but im pretty sure hes
not a Samaritan or a follower of Anan so I think he holds by the entire
tanakh not just the torah. But you should ask him. Be well.

  13. Sounds great to me. What about the “juice” that is derived from crushing
raisins soaked in water for a time? I think that is what I heard that even
    some Karaites find kosher.

  14. The sweet sickening crap is going the way of the dodo. But even that was
alcoholic. The new kosher wines these days are fantastic and in fact have
won international awards when competing against the very best wines from
Germany and France and Italy. PS The first ppl to make wine were the
ancient Israelites. The Romans and Greeks learned how from the Jews.

  17. how do you call it “wine” if the source doesn’t go through fermentation?
Plus, how do you use those left out?

  19. That is utter tripe. Of course it contains alcohol. But you can use grape
juice I have heard if you are not into booze. TO me that is just dumb. You
can;t get drunk on grape juice and Jews are commanded to not only drink but
to get drunk on some holidays like Purim for example. I drink kosher wine
from Israel all the time, not for religious reasons but because Israel
makes great wines. I especially like the Cab Savs and boy do they have a
    kick; high alcohol content 🙂

  20. you don’t make wine non-mevushel…you just don’t cook it. also you can
totally use mevushal wine for kiddush. sure its nice to use non-mevushal
but to say that its assur is misleading. also just squeezing grapes is
    sorta just fresh-sqeezed grape juice….
