  4. A great non-parve challah. I made it into 1 medium braided spiral round,
from four lengths of dough. Also 2 small braided loafs that started as a
cross, each made with just two lengths of dough. ( I watched a challah
braiding video). I used poppy seeds on top of the egg wash. I preheated
oven for 15 minutes, but baked longer than 15 minutes, I do recommend
    watching it closely.

  9. this is an unusual challah recipe, it normally has oil and not butter, and
ususally bakes for much longer, ususally 30-40 minutes

  13. Thanks for the video! I just left my ball to rise. Question: your dough
ball in the video was considerably more compact and less sticky than mine.
Any speculation or insight into why that is?

  15. I made this today, its going in the holiday recipe book. I live at a high
atitude so I used a little less yeast and a little more butter, it came out
sooo perfect. I baked at 350 for 15 minutes. Half was gone before it was
finished cooling. Its a new favorite for sure, oh ans substituted honey for
    2tbs sugar

but it came out very nice. I was surprised how easy this was. I will make

  20. Hey Steve, Tried this recipe and followed all instructions carefully.
Unfortunately it didn’t turn out like your. Instead, I got a rock hard egg
bread. 🙁 During the 1st rising, it didn’t rise that much and 2nd rising,
it barely rise. Yes, I did keep in a warm place. What did I go wrong? 🙁

  25. I don`t really understand why you put egg white as an egg wash. For
browning it`s the egg yolk. For regular egg wash, it`s a whole egg with or
without a bit of water or milk. But for the egg bread, you use an enriched
egg wash , that means only the egg yolk , again with a little bit of water
or milk or even cream. The white of an egg is used as a glue.
