  2. Really thorough outline of your process. Thanks for sharing. I’m about to
    build a similar, but smaller bed (6′ x 3′) on my south facing wood deck and
    was in need of a drainage solution to keep the top of the deck from staying
    waterlogged. This looks very straightforward and doable, even for someone
    with somewhat limited building experience like me. I’ll probably route the
    drainage into some other nearby containers.

    After accounting for installation of the sub irrigation tubes, how deep is
    the soil? Any idea how much water is used to fill the bed to the point
    that it drains out the other end? How often do you re-fill during the
    growing season?
