How do you make bacon so that it stays soft but is fully cooked?

Question by Candra: How do you make bacon so that it stays soft but is fully cooked?
My parents made something called “bacon wrapped chicken”, where the bacon was soft but fully cooked. Is there a way to produce the same results, considering that it wouldn’t work if I followed the instructions again from the bacon wrapped chicken recipe.
P.S: I am only talking about cooking bacon that is made from pigs, please do not suggest turkey bacon.

  1. Try putting it on a broiler pan and cooking it in the oven on 350. Check it after 7 minutes. That’s how I cook mine. Cracks me up because my mother cooks it on top of the stove and they ask her to fix the “wiggly” bacon like I do..lol

  2. Low heat…they use the term “low and slow” to cook meats and bacon, etc. so it remains tender yet fully cooked. Fry it on a low setting below medium heat in the pan and don’t flip it too much or it will stick.

  3. Cook it slowly in a pan or on a griddle on really low heat until you reach the desired crispiness (or non crispiness in your case lol. Probably about 10 minutes). Bacon is supposed to be cooked on medium low anyways, i dont understand why people cook it on high heat.

***Also, bacon (like most meats) should only be flipped once. about halfway through cooking.

  4. Cook it till the fat portion just “pops” once all over. If you watch it cook you will see the fat part change as spots sort of pop and change to frosty color. It only needs to cook to 180 degrees to be safe.
