  3. Just build a regular home-based structure and add some red and white paint.

  4. Hi,

You should definitely get a great set of plans before building your own chicken coop. Coops have to be designed specifically to how many chickens you plan on having. There must be enough space and proper lighting to keep your chickens healthy and producing eggs daily.

There are some great chicken coop plans out there but I’d recommend the step by step video instructions. They are pretty cheap and well worth it if you are serious about building a chicken coop.

You can see some of the best chicken coop plans available at this website: http://www.buildachickencoopplans.com

    Good luck on your build!

Having fresh, delicious, organic eggs ever morning rocks! You will most likely end up with more eggs than you will ever need but if that’s the case you can always share with your neighbors. =)

  5. Hey great question. i had a similar problem about 5 months ago. I had a flock of backyard chickens and really wanted to make a nice chicken coop for them, especially to get some yummy eggs!

After searching the internet for blueprints on how to build a chicken coop it was really hard to find a good set of plans that were free. I didn’t want to do it but I gave in and bought one the plans I found online. What the heck it was only $ 30!

Anyway in the long run it saved me a lot of money as opposed to buying a chicken coop that was already assembled. Also the instructions and diagrams it had were very well written and organized. I would highly recommend it.

Here is the link to blueprints I purchased:

And just for reference here is another set of plans that came out since I first purchased my plans. I don’t know how good the actual plans are, but it comes with a video which could be useful:

    Hope that helps you out!

  7. Building your own chicken coop will be one of the best decisions you’ll make in your life. Your own backyard chicken coop will provide you with daily fresh organic eggs for the kitchen. It will recycle your families food scraps and produce high quality fertilizer for your garden. Best of all, your family will be proud of the coop that you created with you own two hands. http://youtu.be/R6mbbYojGeU
