  1. There’s no way to answer that really because produce prices fluctuate week to week and season to season.

You need to visit the nearest vendor of fruits and vegetables in your area and price you things similarly.

Example: In my extreme rural area there’s only one grocery store. You pay their prices or drive an hour and fifteen minutes to pay less at the big supermarkets or Walmart.

If your organic fruits and veggies looked nice, I’d be willing to pay the same price I pay at the grocery store. Also how do I (the prospective customer) know that they are organic. Are you certified or am I just taking your word for it?

  2. Wait, what? Taking your word for it? Not going to happen. You need to get your land and process certified or its just home grown. And when its home grown you can just decide how much you have into the produce and how much you want to make. If you selling at a farm stand people will expect you to be cheeper than grocery.

  3. You have sustainable, chem free, ecological, etc., but not organic food-unless you are gardening according to the USDA NOP, including a farm map, 4+ year crop rotation plan, records of every input you have bought off farm. Records of everything you have applied to the crops or soil, etc., and making under $ 5000 gross income.

Otherwise you cannot legally use the term

I farm, for 8 years was certified organic. still farm the same way as when certified organic but can no longer use the “O” word in any marketing of my food. Only people who are certified organic or make under $ 5000 AND follow the regulations (which is difficult) can use the “O” word

But on to your question-are you selling direct? Wholesale? if selling direct are you selling in a urban area or university town or are you selling in a rural area. Location dictates a lot of what you can ask. I drive past a rural farmers market under 3 miles from my farm because there is one in a university town 30 miles farther away where I make 2x to 3x more money.

This link to my website has all my current prices http://www.angelfire.com/oh2/boulderbeltcsa/farmstore.html
Since I grow and sell seasonally items and prices change on this list
