  1. Nice job Joe, looks good. Do you raise your own pups? I think it might be
time to get a new one soon.

  2. As long as you have at least 6 hours of good sun, that bed should serve you
well. You will have competition with the tree roots so you will need to
water quite a bit. With the small roots of a strawberry or veggie and the
much larger tree roots, the tree always wins. I had a garden at one time
which was similar to what you have there. It took a lot of care but did
    quite well. Good luck!

  3. Thanks Lillie, I will have to try something like that, since I am not up
there all the time, the water retention and how it would stop the weeds
    would really help. Thank You.

  5. Thanks for commenting, I never thought about that, but we do want to figure
out how to make a worm bed so we can use them to go fishing and not have to
buy them on the way up. Do you have any ideas on how to do that? I hope to
have some new wild edible videos coming up in the near future. Thanks. Joe

  6. I had some wood that I put in the wood stove this time up and it was pine
only but it had so much resin in it that thing burned forever and was hot
like burning a piece of birch. I will have to check my email. Thanks Marty.

  8. Ohh I LOVE that raised be with the logs!! What a great idea!!! I would love
the look of that in my yard. You did a beautiful job! Were the strawberry
plants bought or dug up from another location? Just curious. Had never seen
them for sale like that? Hope this strawberry bed does great for you.
Thanks 4 sharing. I am kinda behind on my video watching but trying to
catch up with everyone. Take care.

  9. Awesome work. I like gardening too. I got one suggestion for you: try to
cover the soil around the plants with leaves. This will protect the plants
from freezing and water will condensate under the leaves, so you dont have
to water them that much. all the best… Lilly

  12. Nice Video; I love your videos on wild edibles btw. Have u considered
placing a small worm tower in your raised bed, It simply a pvc pipe with
holes drilled in the sides at the bottom, bury the holes in the soil thus
allowing the worms to move in and out into your soil. Put a few worms and
then add food scraps as needed. It really is an easy way too get nature’s
    little fertilizers working for you.

  15. Thank You, I will post videos on whats growing and not growing everytime I
go up there. I am going to plant some apple trees up there like I have here
at home as well, if nothing else, I know they will grow up there if you can
keep the deer away, and they really attract deer so at deer hunting time if
there is snow on the ground, they will come visiting, and it will be a
short drag to the meat pole lol Thanks again. Joe

  19. Max is getting old I agree, and I never studded him, I got him fixed right
away. I searched everywhere looking for a big blocky black lab male, and he
turned out to be exactly that and has a great personality. Thanks.

  20. What do you do with wildlife encroaching on your vegetables and fruit
garden? Also, do you recommend and types of soil boosters and water
mixtures, possible pesticides both eco friendly and non?

  25. Excellent, a really rustic raised bed! This will be a great test bed (Ack!)
to determine what works and what needs improvement to successfully grow
fruit & veg in Northern MN. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to scale up
for more fresh summer produce – or, if a major societal disruption forced
you & your family into a long term Bug Out – an important supplement to
your diet. Keep us posted and keep up the good work!
