  1. This is called semi-hydroponic. Do a Google Search for “first rays semi
    hydro”

  2. Does Miltonia like it wetter vs phalaenopsis? With the moss constantly wet,
the phalaenopsis roots will be on the way to Rotdom. lol

  3. Be sure that the water level is in the lower part of the pot, and the roots
    are above this level….

  4. You need to look at the roots. If the leaves look healthy and the bulbs
wrinkled, then you are underwatering. If the roots are dying or few, then
you need another medium, maybe mix of clay pellets and moss so it dries out
after every watering. My experiment here is all moss, and quite moist all
the time, but I wait for the medium to become semi moist before I water it
again. And the roots are way above the water line….

  7. Wauw…I shall certainly try this method with my Miltonia SooNeaty, because
it isn’t doing very good since I bought it two months ago. All the spikes
with flowers turned out brown. Samantha told me to check the roots and
overpot it. I will do so and use your system. Didnot really know that
Miltonia loves to kept wet..I watered it onxe a week and was not happy
about the leaves. They were closing down..:-(.

  8. Thanks David Broome, I checked out that excellent article. He uses clay or
other particles, not moss, so I am wondering if this moss medium may be too
wet. We will wait and see what happens, I am tempted to get rid of the moss
and use clay pellets instead….. !

  9. Hi soo neaty. I want to try this method on my miltoniopsis cause ive been
watering twice a week but the bulbs look dehydrated and now im planning on
watering it every other day. If i transfer it to a moss medium, do they
like it moist like that? Cause i dont want to rot the roots either. The
leave on my miltoniopsis looks healthy but the bulbs are dehydrated..
