Question by Laura: Do you know anyone that drinks goat milk?
My son is not gaining any weight so his nurse suggested goat’s milk. I looked it up and it said for babies not gaining weight so I’m suprised it wasn’t brought up to my attention b4 but it’s also good for exzema which my other son has. If you have tried it, what was your experience with it? Thanks 🙂

  1. I grew up on goat’s milk. There was no soy, thank God. So my aunt bought a goat and we got it fresh from the farm. I still drink it. It tastes great for me, really smooth, no gas or indigestion problems.
It is pricey, about 4 dollars a quart. But the health food stores sell a powdered form in a can. Here’s the website: http://www.meyenberg.com/
I couldn’t get it for my son who cannot tolerate cow’s milk and used soy. I don’t care for soy products for children, but it was all we could find in the city at the time.
I don’t know how old your child is but my son now drinks Organic Valley 100% Lactose Free milk with no problems. This is the only milk he can tolerate, we have tried them all. If it’s in your area, give it a try. http://www.organicvalley.coop/products/
Web site can give you a store listing.

  2. if a nurse said to try it, it’s definitely worth a go. The girl that sits next to me at work drinks it, but for different reasons. She says it’s a bit different in taste (a little sour maybe) but she thinks it’s fine, generally.

  4. Goats Milk is very good for you. It does taste a little odd when you are used to a cow’s milk though. We live around a lot of Amish. They will milk the goat right on the farm and feed it fresh to their kids. It seems to be fine. It is all in preference. For gaining weight most babies drink whole milk.

  5. you should ask this in the pregnancy and infants baby’s section. Most of us in the non-alcoholic drink section are coffee and/or tea freaks.

but i’ve only had goats milk in yogurt, like greek yogurt.
