Question by Prospective: Do you have to use oil to cook ground turkey?
I didn’t use oil or cooking spray does that mean it wasn’t cooked? I cooked it in a skillet for 18 mins then baked in a lasagna for 60 mins.

What do you think? Answer below!

  1. Heat cooks turkey, not oil.

  2. No, you’re fine. You only use oil when frying it to keep it from sticking in the pan.

  3. No. I never put any sort of spray or oil in a pan when cooking meat because the fat will cook out of it and keep it from sticking.

  4. There is enough fat that renders in the pan to cook off the ground turkey without adding any oil. Extra oil could even make the lasagna a bit oily. It is always a good idea, though, to brown the ground meat in a nonstick pan to keep it from sticking. Many turkey meats these days have far less fat in them because of how the turkeys are raised and also how they package the meats in increments of fat percentage.
