  1. LOL, not in my neighborhood.

They are filthy, chicken crap all over a neighborhood is not a healthy place for kids.

  2. 100% favor! I’m all about local food…it doesn’t get much more local than that. In Portland, OR we already have chickens in the city. My neighbors right behind me have some. They are not annoying…they don’t wake me or keep me up at night and my cat has never tried to attack them.

edit: DC…I think you posed a question that both sides of the political spectrum agree on! Some say it cannot be done. Nice work!

  3. If people want a chicken in their yard, they have every right to do so.

  4. I’ve never really thought about it, since I’ve never considered keeping chickens. I guess I would support it, though, since my mother has talked about getting pet chickens and putting them in her backyard. (She lives within the city limits, by the way.)

  5. Favor. I’ve raised chickens before and would love to do it again. Fresh eggs rock.

  6. I live in the rural outskirts of St Louis where quite a few have chickens, in rural areas that is fine, it would disturb me to have a hen house in the city if I were an urban dweller. Subdivisions often have rules by the home owners association, if one moves in one should first see what the rules are then abide by them or not move in

  9. Favor completely, it is your property, screw what your neighbors think. You are supplying you own organic food. Healthy tasty, fresh eggs.

  10. If the rooster is crowing at dawn, I don’t want them anywhere near me.

  11. I am in favor of it. But then again, I live in the country and my neighbors aren’t close enough to be bothered by the smell a half dozen chickens might cause. If I lived in a suburb, I might feel differently.

Fox News Viewer: You don’t need a rooster to get eggs.

  12. I’m in favor of it as long as certain standards are maintained; the chickens should be well cared for in clean conditions and in a secured environment so they can not roam onto others property. I also think that there should be a minimum acreage condition imposed along with a limit to the number of chickens.

Certainly wouldn’t fly (no pun intended) in my neighborhood, though.

  13. I favour allowing chickens to be kept; and where possible, kitchen gardens.

I have watched as the Federal Government has willfully brought us so deep into this financial crisis, and the logistical consequences of this endangers more than 2/3 of our population!

I am invested in three of the top five Rail Roads of this Continent. The capacity of these businesses to provide the necessary services is being persistently undermined by the actions of the federals, and at the direction of the federals, the states! I will not go into any long list of grievances; to read that list bores even me!

  14. I have in my 1/2 acre back garden 5 bantams, 4 hens and 1 cock of various breeds. they supply a constant source of fresh eggs. We are getting a turkey chick very shortly it will be ready for Christmas. here in France it is quite common for people to keep chickens

  15. I live on 4 acres and have a small chicken coup. I sometimes eat the eggs but usually just let my birds sit or not as they will. I have had kind of a grandfathered understanding with my yuppie new neighbors that I will continue to be agricultural here amongst their Mc Mansions. So far we have a easy truce. They do not bother me. I certainly do not bother them. But make no mistake. Those roosters do wake up earlier then even I want to get up.

  16. It depends on the size of the yards and whether too close to the city. They can be very noisy. I would oppose letting people keep chickens here in downtown Reno. A couple of miles out of town should be OK though.

  17. Sure, by the way why not add in a ranch or maybe a local zoo. Shoot put a polygamist ranch just for the kicks.
