  1. Thanks for posting this detailed info video. The NFT system that you setup
was really amazing. Any herb would really thrive very well with that kind
of system. I was really amazed to see how huge the root mass of your plants
are. I believe that the reason why they have grown so well is because the
water inside the reservoir is very well oxygenated. Great job!

  2. Interesting design. but when we look closely there are huge holes in the
tops of those nice PVC pipes. The problem with this is that we don’t like
light hitting our nutrient solution. 1. Algae will grow when any amount of
light is present. 2. the roots do not like light either. When algae grows
on your roots they will rot. (even in NFT with constant flow, root masses
will cause pooling.) That is my only critique of your system over all. I
    particularly like your worm setup.

  4. @zebmcl You are absolutely right about the algae issue. After the Fall
Semester we cleaned out the PVC pipes and covered the troughs with black
plastic cutting small holes for the rock wool! It has been working much
better and no more light for the roots and for the nutrient solution!
Thanks for the advice! -Lab 14
