Question by Luis Enrrique: Chicken vs. dog????????
I want to get a chicken in my backyard but I don’t know if it’ll cut my dog into pieces. My dog is kinda small and I don’t think it’ll eat the chicken but I have a feeling the chicken would attack him

  1. your dog will kill it.
My inlaws got rid of a small dog because he kept killing their chickens.

  3. Keep the chicken and dog separated from each other, but let them see each other.
Then, after awhile, when they are comfortable with see them, but them together.

  4. I know several people who have dogs and roosters, and the dogs leave the roosters alone. Now at least. As far as a chicken goes, I don’t see it being able to protect itself like a rooster could. Depending on the temperament of the dog, you may be able to have a chicken. If you do get a rooster, it could seriously hurt your dog and the crowing would bother the neighbors.

  5. Well, depends. The chicken definitely won’t kill the dog, but the dog might kill your chicken. Depends on the species, and the age of the dog when you get the chicken. I’ve got ten chickens and two ducks in my backyard, and I’m planning on getting a puppy, not an adult canine. That way, the dog has a higher change of growing accustomed to the chickens, and not kill them. And on a side note, most legitimate places won’t let you buy a single chicken, the limit is usually 3-6.
