  5. @akhenatn You don’t have to use expanded clay, you can use many different
types of rock media including things like river gravel, pea gravel, crushed
    basalt or blue metal.

  10. Yep, no problem at all, my systems at home all have gravel filled beds,
check our website called ibcofaquaponics here you will find a whole section
on different things you can use for media in growbeds.

  11. Why do you have the irrigation pipe around the perimeter of the growbed? If
you just had a pipe filling the growbed at any single point, wouldn’t the
water fill the entire bed evenly? It just seems like the extra pipe in the
growbed is a unnecessary. Am I overlooking something?

  13. @TodayWithSam I watched a video last night and the guy was saying that the
rain water messes with the nutrients and he was going to cover his.. It
rained for a week on his system and the plants started dying, he took the
video a week later and the plants were starting to come back to life….

  14. @TheMontanahouse The irrigation pipe allows solid matter to be spread
around the perimeter of the bed. all solids being pumped into the one spot
    can cause build up.

  18. Rain will affect the PH the same as it does if you have a garden pond and
correcting it is the same as you do for a pond that said rain shouldn’t
cause too many probs accept raising the water levels in the tank

  22. I’ve been watching a lot of videos on aquaponics and my only concern is how
does rain effect the system. (debating if I need to construct a roof for my
    garden)

  23. 7:05 can you explain to me the output of the expanded clay tank? Is one
pipe inside of another, but the water comer over the larger pipe? I saw
another video of aquaponics using auto siphon, but yours seems to be
different. Also, what pipe cutter are you using in this series? Very
interesting videos, I’m trying to find similar tanks here in Brazil to
start my aquaponics with Tilapia! Thanks!
